This remix by Populette is simply a great work in electronic music and makes us dancing into the NEW YEAR 2012.

Visage - Mind of a toy (1981)

This is a jump into the synth-wave-pop corner and I think that this song by Visage is not as common as for example their biggest hit ever "Fade to grey". But I like it though. Sorry for the raw sound quality.

Tullio de Piscopo - Stop bajon (1984)

Tullio started releasing music in the mid 70s and this one is supposed to be his most famous piece of music - and it's such a cool Italo electro disco track.

Discodromo - Numero Uno (Prins Thomas Edit) (2011)

Discodromo is a duo of the two Italian guys Giacomo Garavelloni and Giovanni Turco who are living in Berlin/Germany. You can recognize their roots in their music. This remix by Prins Thomas is beautiful, driving and uplifting. Enjoy!

Once again back to all beloved Italo sound. This is an absolutely classic song and you have to spend some bucks more to get a copy.

Riz Ortolani - Il corpo di Linda (1978)

You won't believe it but this track is really 33 years old! First release was in 1978 as part of the album "La ragazza dal Pigiama Giallo" and a repress came out on a 12inch in 2008. Driving and uplifting.

The Disco Connection - Rock your baby (1982)

This is a "new" version of George McCrae's super hit "Rock your baby" with a cool vocoder voice and an Italo influence. The German release on ZYX Records is one of the first releases of this essential label which brought Italo to Germany. The 12inch has the release number 5007.

La Bionda - Wanna be your lover (1980)

This is a very early Italo production which can't hide it's minimalism. The sound is kind of funny in my opinion but cool though. The 12inch is high recommended and you can get it for more than 55 Euros at discogs.

Romanelli - Chain reaction (1982)

HiNRG cosmic italo synthpop that sounds like a soundtrack.

Kano - Now baby now (1980)

Kano is so funky, disco, cool and italo.

Ultracity - Klee (2009)

This track is taken from the EP "Epic Disco Vol. 1" and it fulfills what the name is supposed to promise: EPIC DISCO.

Zodiac - Photo finish (1982)

This is more Space Electronic Disco Rock - but also a nice one from the album "Music in the universe".

Slang - Johnny Guitar/Pinch roller (1978)

This gem is so sensationally good. It's a medley with the titles "Johnny Guitar" and "Pinch roller". It's funky, cosmic and sexy. There's an instrumental edit available which is made by Loud-E.

Normally I don't like such new edits of formerly masterpieces - especially such from genius Moroder. But this one is really well done and pretty close to the original - although it's with a bit more bang of course.

Jori Hulkkonen - I am dead (Who made Who Remix) (2010)

Ace music from Finland. Jori Hulkkonen is deeply influenced by 80s electronic synth music - and if you listen to this song this is getting more than clear. Great vocals btw by Jerry Valuri.

Den Haan - Release the beast (2009)

This is the first release of this track. Another extended version called "Increase the beast" came out on "De Brandende Haan EP" together with "Afterburner". To me it's a bit too hectic and I would prefer an only instrumental version. But it depends on everybody's taste. So decide yourself if you like it or not.

"Flight to Zanzibar" was originally from 2010. The man behind "Night System" is our good friend from London: James Penrose. Italo legend Flemming Dalum remixed this gem for the double album. It's formidable.

Haules Baules - Buch (2011)

A release from March 2011. The style can definitely be called House. I like it though because of the driving character of the synths starting at about 2:23 and again after the exciting break at 5:40.

Alexander Robotnick & Ludus Pinsky - The analog session (N5 from outer space) (2010)

The track is pretty housy - but nevertheless pretty good as well. And the video is the coolest video I ever saw: Two "old" men in the cellar having fun with their analog equipment.

I would say that this is one of the earliest house-called tracks before the big house-business started up. I like this one because it has some nice melody-synth-elements besides the typical house feeling.

Todd Terje - Eurodans/Italian stallion (2005)

This 12inch is actually a double A-side in my opinion. The first track "Eurodans" sounds like a space journey on the beach and the second track "Italian stallion" hits the floor like hell. A pity I only found "Eurodans" on youtube.

After the highly sought after "Gimme love" from 1983 this is the second release of Alessandro Novaga and Giorgio Paganini under the name "Cellophane" - and it's at least as remarkable as their first record.

Leader Band - You're my everything (1984)

Great instrumental version on the B-side called "Leader version". Couldn't find it on youtube - therefore you can only hear the vocal one. The instrumental you can find on The Robot Scientists' Musica da Batticuore Mix number 12.

Great instrumentals - this is the original 12inch vocal version of the Canadian duo. But if you prefer the instrumental version you can get the vinyl for a really cheap price.

Chris & Cosey - Walking through heaven (1984)

Some of my posts are not really related to the Italo genre. So this one isn't like that too. It's more electronic with an ambient touch. I have to share it though because I think it's too good.

Axodry - Feel it right (1984)

One of the members and also producers of Axodry was Andreas Tomalla. German folks know him as the famous DJ and producer Talla2XLC. He was a pioneer of the electronic music in Germany and had lot of success in the late 80s and the 90s with some Techno and House productions. He's still in business today. Great career.

John Carpenter - Christine (1984)

Producer of this track is Ralf Hennings who also appears in "The Splash Band". You can say that he had a passion on John Carpenter and produced a lot of tracks being inspired by John's horror movies.
Christine has also been released as a 12inch so you can enjoy it a bit longer.

Zinno - What's your name? (1985)

Very nice version of the James Bond main theme. I prefer the instrumental version though.

SPK - Metal dance (1983)

The ideals of SPK are kind of strange. They are trying to be a voice for individuals with so-called "mental illness". More informations about their theme you can get at "discogs".

"Metal dance" entraps you with some special sound elements including lots of metal noises which wanna make you dance.

Risqué - Go for it! (1984)

Everybody knows "Burn it up", but this one is also worth to be mentioned.

Propaganda - Dr. Mabuse (1984)

Well known electronic synth-pop from Germany. As I know the singer Claudia Brücken had a relationship with one of the owner of the British label "ZTT" (also the label of "Frankie goes to Hollywood"). I don't know if this connection caused the fact that Propaganda released on ZTT or if it was the other way: they released on ZTT and Brücken felt in love with the label owner. Whatsoever: they were very successful with Dr. Mabuse and some other great tunes.

The most known 12inch version in my opinion is this 10 minutes work:



I personally prefer this shorter one because of the exciting synths and the following percussion break between 3:29 and 4:45:

This is one of Kano's greatest smasher in my opinion. And we all need love - right now. Sooooo good!!!

Esavù - Sia-sioù (Breakin' up) (1983)

I only found this vocal cut. I personally prefer the instrumental version you can find on the official 12inch. Outstanding synth-work in there. Great tune.

X-Ray Connection - Replay (1983)

Load your lasergun and destroy the "enemy missiles".

The sound qualitiy isn't that good and for me it seems that the track is a little bit pitched up.

Life Force - Invitaion (1984)

This is a high energy invitation to dance - so let's do it and move.

Pablo - Experience (1983)

Released on legendary Italian label "Durium". I prefer the instrumental version that is called "Pablo's Group - Experience".

Alden Tyrell - Hills of Honolulu (2004)

To make it complete ... This track has been released in 2004 under Martijn Hoogendijk's other alias "A Visitor From Another Meaning". And his music is like a visitor from another planet.

This is my favourite version of this song. Always remembering me on my younger days and my hometown disco where it has been played during the lasershow and nobody knew the name of this record - except our DJ of course.

Camaro's Gang - Ali shuffle (1982)

If you hear this track and see that video you'll say that the Camaro's Gang could be a "Crazy Gang" - at least the sound is pretty crazy. I prefer the instrumental version on the B-side of the 12inch.

P4F - Medley (1986)

P4F means "Propaganda for Frankie". This is getting clear if you hear the medley between "Machinery" and "Relax". Nice work from Italy.

Excellent space-synth sound from Switzerland. This piece of music has been released first in 1985 on the album "Nightdreams" and came out again as a 12inch one year later. Fresh Color started about 1978 as a punk band turning to New Wave in the early 80s. They started to use synths and to produce more dub-ish. At the end they also sounded a bit like Italo. One of the founders of Fresh Color was Dieter Meier who left them after two releases and created "Yello".

This is the Legowelt-track from the "Disco Nouveau: Addendum" release I mentioned the post before. Daaaarrrk!!! A must have!
