John Carpenter - Escape from New York Italo Disco Version (1983)

Amici dello spazio, this here is a great italo version of the John Carpenter soundtrack for "Escape from New York", in German "Die Klapperschlange" (The rattlesnake). It was produced by the German Ralf Hennings - he released several 12 inches with discotized John Carpenter tracks (Assault on Precinct 13, Christine, The Philadelphia Experiment and a LP with shorter versions) and some other great italo-esque tracks, almost all a must have! Check them out!

Desire - I Can't Hold You Live in San Diego 2009

Amici, this is atmospheric italo-based new wave synth disco pop from one of the greatest hopes in pop music today, Desire from the amazing and highly recommended label Italians do it better.

I happened to be at their concert yesterday and talked to Johnny Jewel who is also the mastermind behind Glass Candy and Chromatics - great buddy, great talent, great passion - buy their records!

Live, all his bands sound a lot more dynamic, tracks are faster, you can dance to them easily, so don't miss them when they get close to where you live. This is how italo can sound today - like a (danceable) soundtrack to the next David Lynch movie.

The sound quality of this video really is bad, but you can get the energy...i love this track...enjoy.

Hohokam - Harlequin tears 1985

Powerful high energy track from the band with the strange name, produced by Gary Numan, released on his NUMA label. It was a success in the UK, but on the European mainland not very much known. Turn up the volume and wave your arms up and down while going two steps back and forth - this is the new wave HiNRG dance! ;)

Ken Laszlo - Hey hey guy (1984)

Haha, finally a real italo disco gem and a real success in many countries. Still love this one, get it at your favorite flea market and dance to it with your friends on a Sunday afternoon. Fun track!

Styloo - Pretty Face (Extended Version) 1983

Salve, finally a really really good not too cheesy italo disco track we loved to dance to back in our Rimini-style discotheque in the old days. Still love it!

Ganymed - We like you (the way you like us) 1979

When Brian Eno said "I've heard the sound of the future" in Berlin 1977, refering to Giorgio Moroder's "I feel love", sung by Donna Summer, some guys in Austria - not far away from Munich, the electronic disco capital - also produced "music from the universe" - the band Ganymed existed from 1977-1983 and they produced awesome space disco tracks, just like this one, which also made it into the charts. Turn up the volume!
