Mauro Micheloni - Looking For Love (1983)

Some of you might think I know all these obscure tracks I present here for ages. It is not the truth for all. Actually I danced to italo the first time I ever went to a discotheque, which is kind of cool. But I still discover great tracks today, like this one here. I read about it in a top 10 italo tracks list and I have to say, it really is a perfect italo song.

Implantation - Choose Your Lover 1984

This is an completely and utterly overseen Italo disco hit with a great galloping bassline, released in the magic year 1984 on the outstanding Many Records label. Ok, the vocals - as usual. But the synth work is excellent, done by Fabricio Gatto, Aldo Martinelli and Simona Zanini who also were the guys behind the ingenious Doctor's Cat band project. This track is worth to have some more listeners I think - and for the hardcore vinyl addicts, there are some reasonably priced records at discogs.

The first House record came from Italy - Klein & M.B.O. vs. Jesse Saunders

Amici, now follows a lesson in marketing - and the plain truth. The U.S. always were the biggest marketers, respect for that. But they also claim to have invented HOUSE music which is not correct. This track here below is supposed to be "the first house record ever", "On and on" from Jesse Saunders, from 1984.

Wikipedia even says: "The hypnotic electronic dance song "On and On", produced in 1984 by Chicago DJ Jesse Saunders and co-written by Vince Lawrence, had elements that became staples of the early house sound, such as the 303 bass synthesizer and minimal vocals. It is sometimes cited as the 'first house record', although other examples from the same time period, such as J.M. Silk's "Music is the Key" (1985) have also been cited".

Listen yourself: 1984

For me, this sounds pretty much like e.g. the Klein & M.B.O. tracks Tony Carrasco and Mario Boncaldo produced in Milan in 1982.

Check for example "The MBO Theme" from their first longplayer or their huge U.S. hit "Dirty Talk", both from 1982!

And this here, "Funk you up", is Jesse Saunders second one - very ITALO, don't you think? BUT from 1984 - he loved the Italian productions so much...;).

For me, the Italians invented HOUSE! Judge for yourself! And if you also think so, send this article your friends! The ITALO truth about HOUSE needs to be spread! ;)

Kermesse - Mrs. Moon 1983

WWeeelcome, last week of November! I am really looking forward to December, let the winter begin! No matter how cold it gets, it will not be as cold as on the moon where "Mrs.Moon" lives! SUCH a great italo song, I love it! HARD to get as usual! Obscure italo electronic & synth disco at its best, turn up the volume!

Gaznevada - I.C. Love Affair (1983)

These guys created the classic "Special Agent Man", this here is a ultrarare cut from an Italian TV show. Great to see that Italo Disco was even on TV...

B. Rose - Hey D.J. 1983

Deep down from the vaults of youtube I present you another pre-house-anthem from Italy: Hey D.J. - give me a lot of music! WOW, really, a great production, as usual the lyrics are hilarious and the singer is not too talented, but the instrumental rocks harder than 91,4% of all house and electroclash records ever produced after 1983. Real classic fun. ;)

Jerry Moon - Over and over 1984

Yessss, this is a rrreal gem, absolutely obscure and catchy! "Over and over" I have to play this one, this really impossible to get italo disco track. It is because of these songs why I love italo disco so much: the synths, the vocals, the girl in the background, everything done with the punk attitude "just do it": even if you cant sing, who cares, it is about having fun (and maybe about making some money)! I really want an obscure italo electro disco revival festival in Rimini!

Risqué - The girls are back in town (1982)

Watch out boys, the girls are back in town, and they want passion! ;) Mind-blowing electronic disco hit who never made it into any charts, but into the setlist of The Robot Scientists for their glamourous Spaced Out Disco club night.

Z Factor - I like to do it in fast cars 1983

Mamma mia, this is a pretty italo-sounding track from the U.S., a proto-house track by Jesse Saunders, amazing classic!

Richard Wahnfried - Time Actor 1979

Amazing cosmic track from one of the world's most important synth music pioneers, Klaus Schulze, under his pseudo "Richard Wahnfried".
