Unit Black Flight - "Masking" + "No turning back" (2007)

A massive bassline from the present pushs you over the edge of our space into the future. The video sequences are taken from the science fiction movie "Darkstar" from 1974 by John Carpenter. The first track features the remix of "Masking" by Franz Falckenhaus and the second track is the Legowelt-remix of "No turning back". Both are availabe on the vinyl-release named "Where is Carlos".

M Like Moon - Sunlight (1984)

More slow-mo Italo!! "Oooh oh oh oooh oh oh oooh oh oh oh..." The spring is here, so let the "Sunlight" shine into your heart and dream ...

Topo & Roby - Under the ice (1984)

The sweet little robot TOPO is writing on the good old mechanical typewriter in his logbook in the beginning of the track. And then comes the massive bassline, the nice melody and finally the dreamy and dramatical story of the spaceship crash on the north pole where something has survived under the ice. Amazing!!! One of my favourites in slow-mo Italo stuff.

Thomas Leer - Saving grace (1982)

Think this track would be unknown to the most people. It's the B-side of the 12inch "All about you". Anyway it's a great tune to me. Very nice vibe in it. Let's dream together.

Knight Action - Single girl (1984)

Though it's actual a Chicago house track. I like it with its lascivious mood. Are you a single man then you'll wanna have a date with this single girl. Hot!!

Crazy Gang - A discomatic rodeo (1983)

A really crazy song from the Crazy Gang. It's taken from their album "We are the Crazy Gang". This song has absolutly nuts elements - nuts guitars, nuts vocals, nuts noises like the crying cat at about 1:30 - and so on.

Klapto - Mister game (1983)

Even more a must have is the first release from Klapto from 1983:

Klapto - Queen of the night (1984)

Although there are some hysterical female vocals I like this gem a lot. Essentially and a must have.

Casco at "Magic Waves Festival" in 2009

This is the post number 300 here in the blog and for this reason I thought to bring you something special. It's a little video from the "Magic Waves Festival" in London from the year 2009. It was a two-days event dedicated to the good old era of Italo-Disco-Music and some new Italo stuff. The event has been organised by Jim Penrose also known as "Casionova" - a representative of the NuItalo movement in England with some nice productions. He managed that some of the old stars came to the festival to do some live action - also Salvatore Cusato aka "Casco" - one of my favourites of that time.

The video shows some parts of live action from Casco together with Alessandro Novaga and some interview parts with Casco. Unfortunately the interview is not available in stereo so you can hear this parts only on one side of your headphone.

Yellow Magic Orchestra - Behind the mask (1979)

The band was founded in 1978 in Japan and was said to be some pioneers of electronic music. This track with its great vocoder is the one I like the most of them.

Koto - Japanese war game (dub) (1983)

"Hello, is everybody out there? Turn the button to find a radio program!!" These are the words that come up to me when I hear the beginning of this absolutly classic gem.

Malcom and The Bad Girls - Shoot me (1983)

The man who posted this video says: "Bonus Track from Danny Keith's single of 1983 Love Me Again. Very rare. Enjoy it!" I don't know if this is like that because I didn't find an advice anywhere. But one thing I can say too: Enjoy it!!

Junior Byron - Dance to the music (1983)

Cosmic influenced eletronic music with some strange sounding vocals and a catchy melody-line.

Danny Keith - Keep on music (dub) (1984)

Great tune with typical Italo-bassline and playful and romantic melodies produced by Mauro Farina - one of the well knowned producer with countless projects and productions ("Albert One" for example).

The Creatures - Dance of the silver girls (1982)

A slow track from The Creatures' legendary album "Expansion". Finest in electronic music.

Sally Shapiro - Find my soul (2006)

A huge song from a representative of Nu-Italo: sweet Sally Shapiro. She has been produced by the Swedish guy Johan Agebjörn. Massive as well as romantical.

Chris & Cosey - Love cuts (1984)

This time something different again from the electonic genre: kind of minimal with an interesting bassline.

This track is taken from the album "Songs of love & lust".

Divine - Native love (1982)

HiNRG-burner produced - of course - by Bobby Orlando who produced most of Divine's releases. Divine always was appearing as a drag-queen and polarized with his/her look.
(S)he died very early in 1988 at the age of 42.

Kano - It's a war (1980)

One of the first releases of well known Kano with a powerfull bassline and some spaced out and funky guitars. Kano has been produced by the legendary Italo-star Stefano Pulga.

Sharpe & Numan - Change your mind (1985)

Gary Numan aka Gary Webb in cooperation with Bill Sharpe created a piece of electronic and synth-pop music that I've been loving since I heard it the first time.

Memories of the Future out with The Robot Scientists hit "Landing on Mars"

My friend Rico Zerone told me that his new compilation "Memories of the Future" is just out, a new MP3-compilation with chiptunes, synthlove, librarymusic, electrodisco tracks from 16 artists. It was released from "Select Start Records" which is based in Ann-Arbor, Michigan, USA.

It features the hit from The Robot Scientists, their first production, "Landing on Mars", a spaced out electro disco trip with deep basslines and funky guitars. You can download the whole album here.

Play it loud and tell your friends!

Kirlian Camera - Edges (instr. dub version) (1984)

They are active since the late 70s and have been pioneers of the Italian electronic scene. This track from 1984 is a very good example for this: progressive drums and synths.

Interface - Plastic age (1987)

A song from the late eighties - not really the best time for my preferred sound but this one is kind of nice. HiNRG with great bassline and female voice. Something you can listen to ...

Giorgio Moroder - Evolution (1978)

Some spaced out guitar sounds in the first part of this 15-Minutes masterpiece from the soundtrack to "Battlestar Galactica" followed by some great synthlines.

Thank you Giorgio ...

Experimental Products - Glowing in the dark (1984)

Turn off the light. This piece of music has both: a melancholic voice and an uplifting sound at the same time. It sets free the energy you need to glow in the dark. The original 12inch from 1984 has a price of about 100 Euros. But you also can get a reissue from 2005 (don't know if it's an official one) for a fair price.

Giorgio Moroder - Chase (1978)

Again the genius with his theme from the movie "Midnight Express". Also involved in this production is Harold Faltermeyer. There are two 12inch versions of this masterpiece. Wow - Moroder forever...

Rude 66 - The 1000 year storm (2007)

I've already introduced this track here in the blog some time ago. But I only found a video in a raw quality. Now I can present you the whole track in a better sound quality. Rude 66's first work has been released in 1994. His style is very multifaceted - from early 80’s alternative club music to his own dark acid past, from oldskool electro to Italian soundtracks.
"The 1000 year storm" is an absolute floor filler with a great break in the middle of the track. It's one of my favourites of NuDisco-stuff.

Hot R.S. - House of the rising sun (1977)

"HOT R.S. stands for House Of The Rising Sun.
It was the name of a faceless disco-rock studio band from Johannesburg, South-Africa. Their first album released in 1977 featured a 14 minutes plus disco-rock reworking of the classic House of The Rising Sun, made famous by the Animals (1964)." (this is what "Discogs" says)

Music still is disco but has a very nice and driving bassline and a verrrry sexy female voice. On the B-side the song "Delta queen" is featured that I've already posted here in the blog.
Also the sleeve is very sexy.

The Hasbeens - Make the world go away (2008)

Italo is still alive and it comes back with songs like this. It's produced by the Dutch men Alden Tyrell and DJ Overdose who are very big in this business.

Love the vocoder and the massive synths. The mood of the track is a bit sad and dark.

BTW: Nice video from the movie "Tron" made back in 1982 - the beginning of the Italo-era.

Munich Machine - La nuit blanche (1978)

Wow!!! Here you can hear who is behind the "Munich machine". There can be no doubt:

The great GIORGIO MORODER in cooperation with Pete Bellotte. The track is taken from the album "A whiter shade of pale".

C.M.D.B. - Let's get it together (1984)

The song has a kind of strange story. C.M.D.B. is an alias of the more known project "Digital Emotion" that has been running sucsessfully by the Dutch producers Adams & Fleisner. The version I've posted down below is the single version from "Let's get it together" and was released on the B-side of the Digital Emotion 12" "Jungle beat" as single-version and under the title "In & out of Africa" in 1986. So you can see that the 12inch has been released two years earlier. Typical Adams & Fleisner sound of this time.

Soif de la vie - Goddess of love (1984)

A 10 minutes high energy killer dance-track. And what the goddess of love is meant to be you can see if you take a look at the picture sleeve :-))

Jamie Principle - Waiting on my angel (Remix) (1985)

That's more early House-style than Italo but I like the synth-bassline and the whole performance of this track. It's remixed by Bob Heckmann who has done some more remixes in that time as well as some own productions from the early until the mid eighties - even a medley of Mike Oldfield.

Klein & MBO - Wonderful (instr.) (1982)

I've already posted some tracks from Klein & MBO but I think this one I've still not. It's produced again by Tony Carrasco - a legend in italo.

Wish Key - Orient express (1983)

Attention, attention ladies and gentlemen!! Please step back - the train is arriving.

And it's coming very fast and powerfull into your ears. I like the Orient express - even the vocals with its typical Italo-English-accent. Wonderfull and funny to listen to. The video shows a live performance.
